Been working in the yard and cleaning out the shop and sweating like a mfcker all day.. drank 3 or 4 bottles of water.. And then all at once I thought I started to feel the effects of heat stress.. It was like I was drinking water but my body was not absorbing it..I felt very bloated and like total shite.. Went inside & took a shower & tried to lay down and relax but then I had to go to the bathroom and yack in the toilet .. I feel a little better now.. Is this dehydration?

If you can hold down water, drink water (or pedialyte). Sip throughout the day. Don't gulp down a huge amount of water in a short period of time.

Dump ice cold water over the back of your head and neck. You'll feel much better

You wouldn't know how to use one if you had one, and you'd need a saline solution with distilled water to make one on your own.

Cool down by misting hose water over your head while you are sitting down. Drink room temperature fluids - the ones enriched with electrolytes as already mentioned.

Put a cool rag on the back of your neck.

Best thing to do is hydrate big time before exerting yourself in the heat.

Once you monkey just one time, your body's thermostat will reset itself and you'll be more prone to it the rest of your life.

I've seen men monkey ... it's scary stuff and it can happen in a heartbeat.

You have someone to start the IV catheter and the tubing to connect the bag to the IV catheter?

I'd like to know the answer to this question as well, but for curing paralyzing hangovers. Fiancé is a nurse so I have the administering aspect covered.

Hydrate before and you won't turn into a total shitshow during.

IV bags over counter - never heard of it

i've had a heat stroke and 3 serious heat illness episodes - last one put me in bed 4 days - could barely walk first 2 days

take a break when you start perspiring heavily - cool down and hydrate - if you get to the stage of being nauseated - shut it down for the day and rest/hydrate/cool down

i work in the heat a lot - it's doable if you're smart about it
