It started off because he owned Texas early in his career, and at that point the RRS is basically what Bama-LSU is now. It then became sarcastic over time

I figured as such, but it just makes me wonder why ESPN still uses it

^ That

There was one month, I wanna say October, the year they won the national title. They played three high ranked teams an absolutely smashed them all

10/7/00: vs. #11 Texas, 63-14
10/14/00 @ #2 Kansas St, 41-31
10/28/00 vs. #1 Nebraska, 31-14

the big game moniker kind of started when he was DC at florida and they won the national title against FSU after being demolished by nebraska the previous year(with a different DC). he gets the job at oklahoma and turns that program around. he owned texas, won a national championship and then a rose bowl against washington state. the wheels fell off against kansas state, and things got worse against LSU and USC and the nickname is used sarcastically.
