Seems like there's a lot of optimism, with reason, emitting from the State is Mississippi this off season. Historically both programs have been lackluster with some very good teams sprinkled here and there but never have been able to really break through or sustain success . Merlin's has been at MSU for a pretty long oeriod , in these days terms, so he would seem most likely for a hot seat should State completely tank with a 6-6 type season.

Question is what record would just send the natives off the edge and call for heads to roll? Any scenario that gets the Head coach sent packing?

IMO both teams will be solid but with how tough the SECW is the records won't reflect the teams overall skill sets. IMO, Neither team finishes with fewer than 4 losses, both make a bowl game where they absolutely destroy their opponent.

Ole Miss - probably 4 wins or less without injuries would be about the only thing that would even begin to endanger Freeze.

State - A loss to Ole Miss.

Not trolling but neither the State coach nor the OM coach should ever be on the hot seat after going 6-6 in the west. 7-5, 8-4, 9-3 is overachieving. Again I'm not trolling. Its just that they share a small talent pool and play in THE toughest division in football. If State is dumb enough to let Mullin go, they'll be in the same position OM was after they let Cutcliffe go.

This is the first time I can recall when all Mississippi schools, including lowly USM, have longer winning streaks than Alabama and Auburn.
