I was driving through Missouri a couple weeks ago. It should be ranked higher, TBH. Having a country song on the radio as Missouri passes by is the most surreal experience I've had in a long time. It covers the entire genre actually. There's the harvesty, twangy rural Missouri country. The poppy, shiny slightly less rural Missouri country. The corporate, commercial city/town Missouri country. The hipster, faux folk middle class Missouri country. And even the wanna-be-ghetto, scary urban Missouri country.

It's very country. And has no black people.

Pretty much every backroad in the state is dirt. Hell, I've even seen some small towns that were all dirt roads

SOUTH CAROLINA (13th): How come nobody in South Carolina has written a country song about the roof on the mobile home collapsing under the weight of the DIRECTV satelite dish?
Um, because we use DISH?
Duh.

Apparently being the place most country songs are made doesn't count for much.

Cenla alone should put Louisiana at #1.

City dedicated to country. Cowboy state. What's surprising?

Branson and Porter Wagoner being from West Plains is what gets Missouri their ranking.

My favorite singer from the early 1960s, Del Shannon, could sing the absolute hell out of a country song. I know "Runaway" was his zenith, but he could sing country, too.
Must remember Mizzou ain't too far from Memphis, and could easily pick up the Opry from clear channel WSM Nashville.

I am truly shocked by that. How much do you alcoholics drink dang???
For all their faults, and they are legion, our porcine brothers grow wonderful marijuana.
Oh, and I've been to West Virginia. No one ever has or ever will out-whitetrash West Virginia. WV is what Northern Alabama would be if you took away the culture, history, and learning.
