Jamarcus Russell may not have been a five star, but he was close... probably the most high profile recruit to leave the state before Winston.... he was a bigger name than chad Jackson.

Far too many left between 2000-2007. Alabama couldn't recruit for tripping over itself at the time. And Tuberville had rather find a "diamond" it would seem.

I disagree on Russell being a bigger recruit than Chad Jackson. That dude was unstoppable at Hoover. He went to Florida around the height of their reign. Maybe down south Russell was a bigger name but in the 6a division that year Chad Jackson was a cut above the rest. I was surprised he didn't have a better pro career with the patriots.
