Other than beach stuff, any suggestions on standout...
1) Places to eat (ranging from just really cool to fine dining)
2) Nightlife/entertainment
3) Incredible outdoor excursions for adults
4) Golf
5) Activities for children age 3 - 7
I trust that this board will help your southwest Missouri brotha out.

Why Daytona Beach? Of all the beaches to pick, that's not one I'd go for.
Daytona is trashy. Too many Yankee...wait...nevermind.
Have fun.

Close to Disney.
I wouldn't have chosen it either, but the inlaws wanted to stay there. This is a family vacay.
However, we're doing it right as far as accommodations are concerned. We rented a killer beachfront home with swimming pool.
I just need to know what "cool stuff" to do. What are the hidden gems in that area?
Tell me some secrets that most tourists wouldn't know without experience or inside knowledge.

I think you'll get some information here. I don't go there much other than for work so I won't be much help.

I've only been once, for 4th of July last year. Didn't really get to spend time looking around though. One of my family's friends owns a condo there and we had a nice cookout.
You're gonna get mixed responses about the beaches, but like I said I've only been once and I thought they were great.

next time you're heading to Disney and want to visit a nearby beach, avoid Daytona and do the logical thing....stay in Cocoa Beach.

I visit Cocoa at least once per year. I have 3 college buddies who live on Cocoa and run an outdoor tiki bar business.
I'm not impressed with the sand on Cocoa Beach. However, it's a fun area.
What can y'all tell me about St. Augustine? Is it worth a morning trip from Daytona? St. Augustine is only 1 hour away...

If you haven't visited St. Augustine, make the trip.

Check out the both Forts (the big and the small one) and the Lighthouse.
