That provision would be BS. I want to see the best teams in the playoff. One may be left out, but if we go purely off of conference championships, then several very good teams will be left out.
Not all conferences are created equal. Leaving a 1-loss Alabama or LSU out in favor of a 1 or 2-loss highly ranked Big 10 team would be a travesty. Sure, that Big 10 more than likely isn't going to win the playoff, but that basically means a spot was wasted. The SEC and PAC 12 are the only 2 conferences that are worthy of respect right now. The other conferences are weak and may feature a team that appears great, only due to the lack of competition in their respective conference.
