I don't think $10M/yr for 10 years is outside the realm of possibility considering Bama is paying him $6.9 and UTA is paying Strong (their likely 3rd or 4th choice) $5M

with his alleged signing bonus, it's more like 11.5 million a year. With performance bonuses, which I would imagine be at least a half a million for a national title, that number grows even more. I just don't see anyone turning down an offer that effectively doubles your current salary. I'm sure Texas can afford it, but I just really doubt that they actually offered it and Saban turned it down. I think it's just Texas boosters trying to save face and maintain their enormous egos.

unless there is an actual "per year" value somewhere in the book... this makes it impossible to compare.

for all we know a large portion of that could be in stock options or land holdings or retirement

sounds like BS to me

If there was a real offer ... I'm sure it was somewhere close to what his new contract is... 6.9/year
