Sumlin got in a tremendous compliment for Spurrier, calling him "the standard." He's heading into his 10th season at South Carolina, and combined with his dozen seasons at Florida, he's the first coach in SEC history to spend at least a decade as the boss at two different programs.

It's not the first first for the Ballcoach. He's still the first coach the SEC has known to win multiple conference titles and a national title wearing a visor and sunglasses, throwing the ball all over the lot and poking fun at everyone in sight.

He may not be the last, the way Sumlin's recruiting and A&M's muscling up its facilities and the Aggies are swaggering into places like Bryant-Denny Stadium.

"Our expectations are not going to change," Sumlin said. "We don't have time for a bunch of rebuilding years. There would be another guy standing up here real quick."

Let's hope not. Spurrier needs a successor, as a winner, an innovator and a press-conference provocateur. It has to be Sumlin. There's no parody Twitter account @JiveGusMalzahn.

The Visor cannot be replaced. Only imitators exist after he's gone.

I almost think Chad Morris would be a realistic possibility. The butthurt would be insane.

Damn it doesn't seem like that long. He coached at Florida for 12 seasons. Could he exceed that and become more synonymous (as a coach) with South Carolina than Florida?

Based on most recent hires this is like who takes over the Tonight Show. Les and Nutt fit the bill.

The Other Black Coach?

Mason replaced Franklin, is that what you meant, or do you mean who's going to replace Sumlin?
