I can see the logic of ranking positions against each other as a way to show which position group is stronger.
For example, Leonard Fournette being the top running back in last year's class was a big accomplishment, as there were a ton of talented backs in that class. This running back class leaves me with the meh. Damien Harris, top running back in this class, would be 4th or 5th at best last year.

You would still have the star ranking system. IF the top 5 RBs are 5 * and only the top ranked QB is a 5* it is pretty obvious which is the more top heavy position in that cycle.
