When Clowney was a freshman he was 2nd team behind 3* Melvin Ingram .... who had the experience and earned his way into a high 1st round draft pick.

quote:

2010 - 1st in recruiting
2011 - 12th in recruiting
2012 - 4th in recruiting
2013 - 3rd in recruiting
2014 - 9th in recruting

What was UF's record vs lowly SCAR during that period of time? 1-2? Not sure it proves anything one way or the other except ... I think Muschamp was careless to so adamantly make the statement that he did.

Great coaches recruit'em and then coach'em-up.

Great recruiters do not always make great coaches.

I'm not sure I realized just how out-of-touch with the chemistry of the game Muschamp is until I heard him make the statement ... which immediately helped me to understand why the Gators mailed-it-in against Ga Southern.

You should probably include the context of the conversation.

He was talking about DBs specifically. He didn't say all positions.

By all means though, run with your agenda, whatever it is.

For example, he mentioned that he was concerned with the OL position past the top 7 because UF was really young.

He said that they were also very talented which was good, but the youth concerned him beyond our Top 7 on the OL.

SO obviously, he believes experience is important at some positions.

He also talked about how he was happy that he was going to be trotting out a QB with a lot of experience this year as a starter.

He only specifically mentioned preferring talent to experience in the SECONDARY.

Also, in regards to recruiting, I think if you re ranked the 2010, 2011 and 2012 classes to this point, you would find that South Carolina's have ended up being better or about even. 2012 was very good on the defensive side for UF though, so we will see.

2010-2012 was a disaster of offensive recruiting for Florida.

13 and 14 have been much better.

That being said, in those 3 season, UF had two bad teams (11 and 13), and one decent team (12). The two bad teams took 11-2 south carolina to the wire, and the one good teaming 2012 beat the ever living shite out of 11-2 South Carolina.

IDK what that tells you...
