So, I just gave you 9 TFL's and 3.5 sacks(more than any returning SEC DT) and that's not enough to empress you? You really fricking think one defensive series against Bama is going to sway my opinion when 12.5 instances didn't change yours? frick you.

Do you have trouble reading? I'm talking about consistency here. Go watch, he's blown off the ball.

He's a boom or bust player.

You use a drive against the team that was one FG return TD away from probably winning their 4th Natty in 5 years to prove your point ?!?

I could use LSU, Auburn, or Bama. They all are perennial national title contendors who happen to be in the same conference and division as us. Get it? We play them every year...

I've never said he hasn't been our best option. I'm saying we'd benefit from a guy like Speaks stepping up and taking over. You guys are dense.

And we've gone 2-4 (almost 3-3) against them in Freeze's first 2 years with a skeleton crew defense...

Gross had a huge impact against both AU and LSU last year BTW... Very effective.

No... That's not what you said ... You said a kid who was an UA AA in High School and then was named to the All SEC Freshman team as well as a Freshman All American at DT while weighing in under 250 lbs was vastly overrated ... That's what you said.

I'll take your word on it.

Bottom line, I think he'd serve better as a rotational player rather than our starting nose tackle.

Yeah, so would Robert Nkemdiche if we had Geno Atkins and Ndamukong Suh.

Nice... You're agreeing with everything I've posted... Only thing left to do is to take back the overrated comment and we're all square.

Let's talk McDowell for a second... He's not really SEC ready yet... A little undersized still but he was an UA AA and he possesses that quick first step that can make a player really disruptive in the passing game... Just needs 25-30 lbs of good weight... Barring a rash of injuries up front we might be able to tag him with that RS... That same RS that we couldn't afford to give Isaac Gross.

I'm not giving up the overrated, man. This board thinks this kid is a superstar on the defensive line. He's our worst starter on the line.

I agree, we should RS McDowell. But Gross has had 3 seasons to put on at the least 20 pounds... why can't he do it?

What is your point here? That we don't have anybody better?

That's why im hoping Speaks steps up... which is what I said in my first post... Again, reading problems, dude.

So, Fadol Brown who has yet to play in the SEC is already better than a Freshman All-American?

Where have I disagreed with our coaches? I think Gross has been the best we could offer.

Did you think Robert would be better than Gross coming into this season?

Off yourself.

I get where you are coming from, but to compare RN and Fadol Brown is a hilarious joke.

Kiffin has said that he would rather have quickness over size as long as strength is there and believes that model works with how they shut down the constant running attacks of bama and LSU. Bama had over 100 yards rushing because of two broken plays, not because they pounded it for 4 yards over and over like Texas did in 2012. We have 3 quality guys over 300lbs. If they make our team better they will play over gross. I could understand this argument if we didn't have Woody, who started last year, Hooks, a 5*, and Herb who is down to 318lbs. But we do have those guys and a healthy gross starts over them.

Sports hernia surgery was a big set back... He's added weight now... He'll be more of a passing down DT season ... Speaks and Big Herb in the middle will ease his work load.

This is a valid argument. But would you call Herb and Hooks quality? Neither of them are on the Depth chart. Herb still has time but Hooks may be a lost cause. If I remember correctly he was moved to Oline at somepoint last year.

Once again, I believe we'd benefit much more from a guy like Speaks stepping up and taking over the nose tackle for the majority of snaps.
