I said the play ITSELF was the same,
Wrong; simply because the plays both involved field goal returns does NOT mean they were the same. Again, one was an absolutely meaningless field goal return against a non-conference opponent with the returning team enjoying a huge lead. The other involved two arch rivals, tied, in a game for all the SEC West marbles, on the last play of the game. That is most definitely NOT the same play, even if both plays involved field goal returns for touchdowns.

Did both plays start with a Kicker attempting a field goal?

I'll try this again. Think of these teams as Teams A, B, C, and D. You don't know the time or score, the teams involved, or the stakes of the game.
Team A misses a field goal. It falls into the end zone. A player for Team B returns it all the way for a touchdown.
Team C misses a field goal. It falls into the end zone. A player for Team D returns it all the way for a touchdown.
I would say it was the same play, wouldn't you?
