As I have said about 5 times now, the criteria is a combination of what is at stake and how compelling the game turns out to be.

Then I'd have to go with the 1990 Iron Bowl. The final score was 16-7 Alabama but the game was close all the way through. It was 10-7 at the half and 13-7 entering the final quarter of play. The stakes involved: who would control the state of Alabama for the next decade.

Alabama went on to go 7-3 against Auburn in the 1990s, while also using the victory as a platform to win 24 of their next 26 games, as well as an SEC and national title.

Ok, I'll bump 1971 for 1990 if other gumps agree that 1990 was a greater game for bama.
