I continue to see "if only our kicker didn't suck we would have beat Auburn". As for the OU disaster I still see the excuse that "the team wasn't motivated and we beat ourselves".

Do you still think you were the best team in 2013 since many feel you would have throttled Florida St?

it's ok after the OU loss, but inexcusable after LSU lost to Clemson

I thought our offense was gonna be a nightmare in a good sense, but I sort of knew our defense was gonna be shite.

So after that A&M game, I said to myself it's gonna be a long year, but nothing ever happened until kick six and Oklahoma. So TIFWIW.

However I still feel we would've beaten Florida State. Not because of any specific reason but just cause of one month preparation. Alabama is just a different monster after 1 month of game prep for a bowl game.

I didn't think we were the best, but I do think we would've fared better against FSU than OU because FSU is a pro-style offense and that is where Saban's defense excels. Where Saban's defense struggles is the HUNH spread particularly when Bama doesn't have strong corners. Our "best" cornerback, Belue, has already been released from two NFL teams. Compare that to previous years and it is obvious that this team was going to struggle.

I don't know if we were better than FSU, but I still think we were better than Auburn.

No, we weren't the best team in the country. We had the talent to beat anyone, but that's not how it worked out. Florida State, Michigan State, and perhaps Stanford could have beaten us. Auburn was equal to us at best.

I was never confident about our O'line from day 1. So I always felt we were beatable.

I felt we could win them all with the right breaks. Much like I feel about this years team.

Every team has a weakness.

Best team wins the trophy, nothing else matters.

Best in the SEC. FSU was better though, imho.

I think they have potential to be if everything clicks right and the new starters can limit mental mistakes. The talent, the coaching staff, and the motivation is there for them.

Using the logic that the "best" team doesn't always get to the national title (and can therefore have a loss on the record but still be the best team in the country), I STILL can not say I believe we were the best team last year.

We got beat by two teams at the end of the year. Period.

Part of being a team isn't just players' potential or physical capabilities. It's team work. It's wanting to win more than allowing anything mentally get in the way.

Do I think we may have had the most physically talented team? Yes. Do i think we had the best TEAM? Nope. And it's pretty obvious.

I never felt that way at anytime last year. I thought if we could get better on d as the year progressed and could score enough points we might get lucky and make it through.

But shite happens and then you lose to OU in the sugarbowl.

I thought FSU was the best team in the country very early in the season. They proved me right.

No. FSU was better in multiple areas than Alabama: QB, WR, DL, secondary. Would have been a tough, physical match, but FSU likely would have won. I think a case could be made that Auburn, Alabama, or FSU could be the best team in the nation in 2013 depending on which way a little luck fell.

Suspect OL and weak corners last year. I figured we'd win 10 or 11 games, but definitely not the best team in the country.

Guess not. Even without a championship attitude, they were a miracle from winning the conference though. And would have ended up the best team. Bama doesn't lose BCS title games. Up until the last one, the SEC hadn't choked in one in a pretty long time.
