The better comparison would be for the associates wage compared to other equally skilled labor in the market, that would lead to jobs offered in the fast food and other retail industries, all of which hover around min wage. The pay of store managers is hirer than that of those with a similar workforces at the store level, IIRC. The jobs at the HC pay very well as does the jobs that require an actual skill or trade.
