It is very odd to do so. So no?
I guess not. I guess some random guy can walk up to a funeral and thank everyone for coming just because they went to the same high school.
He is personalizing something that had nothing to do with him.

You would see that as a bad thing.

I thanked the Rant posters who expressed sympathy. not for any personal loss but because it was a decent thing to do that I at least thought was classy.
if you find something wrong with that, then tough.

Typically I'd agree. But as I mentioned in the other thread, a lot of AU people are taking this especially hard. I can't even really articulate why.
Obviously we've all had people close to us die, and all of us have had people we know of, or follow, die. I certainly have, and with regard to the latter, it usually doesn't impact me too deeply.
Maybe I'm just getting a little older and thinking more about what families go through in this type of tragedy, but this one really got to me and a lot of my AU friends. I guess we just kind of watched Lutz come into his own as an adult and become everything we wanted in an AU person. Obviously this doesn't compare to what people who were truly close to him are experiencing, but I can understand OP's sentiment and as an Auburn person I appreciate rival fans' support for our folks and community.
