I scared the shite out of my friend with The Ring when it first came out on DVD. I had already seen the movie. I knew a trick to make the house phone ring without needing another number. So when he got to the video portion of it I excused myself to "go to the bathroom" and as I heard the video end, I did the trick and the phone rang.

The pure look of terror on his face as he clenched the armrest of the chair.

My wife hates horror movies. But one night I got her a little sauced and talked her into watching the Exorcism of Emily Rose with me. My wife is quite a bit younger than me, she's my second, and last.

So the lights are out through the whole house, no kids in the house, she's got a few glasses of wine in her and she's kind of into it because it's got that ugly chick in it from Dexter.

So the tension is building and then there is that scene where the lights come on in the dorm and the girl is contorted on the floor. That got to my wife, I could tell, because a few minutes later she says she has to go to the bathroom .... so she gets up and heads to the bathroom but she cuts lights on all the way ...

As soon as the bathroom door shut I got up and cut all the lights off so it was pitch black dark again except for the glow of the TV coming from the Den - knowing that she would cut the bathroom light off and then step out of the door ... I was waiting on her laying on the floor all contorted with this fricked up possessed look on my face.

Same thing as yours ... the look of terror on her face was priceless and the scream was genuine. She was so pissed at me she almost wouldn't finish watching the movie. She started doing the girly machine gun overhand slap thing to me screaming "don't do that don't do that." It was classic.

I can't scare my wife because it will legitimately kill her if I do it too much. She's waaaaaaay too susceptible to "jump scares" and when I used to get her in the early stages of our relationship she would legit stop breathing and pass out sometimes. Had to stop that shite real quick.
