I think it all depends on whether this was just a 'bump' in which case Joker shouldn't have resigned because that's minor or if this was straight up recruiting during the dead period which can be considered a major violation. I just can't bring myself to believe that Joker resigned over a bump. He's well liked and that's a minor secondary infraction.

Consider this too: although Leak was of course a good QB, he has no coaching experience - he's been a GA. Trying to jump start UF's O with a new OC and new offensive system, you don't want to be forced to hire your GA in JUNE no matter how smart or good he is. IOW, Muschamp would likely have kept Joker on if he thought this were just a 'bump.'

To put this in perspective, Joker was involved in a bump violation during his time at UK, when he accidentally sent a text message to a recruit during a dead period when trying to reply to a text from a friend.

Basically there wasn't even a slap on the wrist. Certainly nothing to resign over.

Joker Phillips did not resign over what amounts to a secondary and minor violation.

The photograph (if it exists) will probably make this a major violation. A sit-down meal with a recruit will be considered an "arranged" meeting and demonstrate a purposeful violation of the rules.

Given that Joker was just popped as UK's HC in 2012 for a 'bump' violation, I think this may be pretty bad for Joker. I don't think it has much effect on Florida, though.

Unless this is just the tip of Florida's dirty recruiting and Joker drops a dime. In which case he'll go from being a Kentucky zero to a Kentucky hero overnight.
