They have been to multiple BCS bowls under multiple coaches, and pull in Big 5 athletic revenue numbers without a Big 5 TV contract.
I think you underrate Louisville, even if I don't want them in the SEC because of the pact...

They only got to said BCS games because of their conference at the time.
