I don't have a problem with a greyshirt since the kid agrees to it. If the offer is pulled after fall and the kid doesn't show up at the school then I have issues with it.

Bozeman is about the worst example to use against greyshirting. That extra three months is huge due to rehab time and strengthening time for his knee.

Many times, a kid is told, "we want you, but we have other positions that we need to fill. come fall, you might have to greyshirt.".
I have no problem with that.

I do have a problem with "we want you, and I can see you doing great things for us. even competing for time as a freshman". Then just before signing day at the last minute or in the fall just before students are about to enroll in classes, out comes the greyshirt.

I agree that there is a world of difference between the two scenarios.
