Damn, I wish Patton had seen the whole thing so I wouldn't have to refer to episodes.
But the ending of the second to last season (can't remember what number) was incredible acting. Like unbelievable. I almost felt guilty and regretting it. It was like I felt a sliver of the actual emotion I would've felt had I done it. That's brilliant.
A lot of people criticized her for being "terrible", but I though Carpenter was incredible. She proved that in the second to last season finale

People think they know jack about acting, but if you pay attention to the arc of the show, her character is the straw that stirs the drink, and her emotional tenor is the touchstone for most of the protagonists.
Carpenter did a masterful job
