All this talk of raising minimum wage to $15 an hour would put me out of business.

You would just charge more, assuming the private sector increased pay for the new increase in living cost.

That's what these fricktards do not understand, take the McDonald's worker for example, first these jobs were never meant to be a career. You flipped burgers during the summer, while in school, or in between jobs, not for 50 years of your life until you reached retirement age.

My first job was at McDonalds during a summer, yes, it sucked, I was paid min wage which was $4.50 or so back then, same price as a Double 1/4 combo, now that combo is damn near $8 and look where min wage is, the closely follow one another, the product is no better, probably worse, labor is higher, the employes get 50% off their meal while on their break.

So lets say min wage is raised to $15 an hour, a 20 oz bottle of coke would be $5 at the gas station you are paying $9 a gallon of gas for, and paying $15 for a combo at McDonalds.

It wasn't that long ago 15K was a really good salary in this country of course min wage was like 70 cents then as well.

If you can't afford to live the lifestyle you want, raising the min wage is going to get you there, it makes it harder on those who are actually living the lifestyle you want. If you want that lifestyle bad enough you will take advantage of the educational opportunities this companies provide, often times they will pay or reimburse you for your college tuition while you work there, that is a good deal to help you achieve the lifestyle you want as very few dictate what field of study you enter or have you make a commitment to work for them for an amount of time post graduation.

I'll say this, its beautiful having a U of A alum as CEO of the world's largest company. May this be an ongoing thing.
