It depends on the nature of Bianco's departure. They are very good friends that still talk constantly. Bianco leaving on bad terms almost guarantees McDonnell wouldn't move. With the ACC move and an AD that will outbid everyone, he basically has no reason to move anyway...

You'd be hard pressed to talk to an OM player from the early 00s that actually gives Bianco more credit than McDonnell for building OM on the front end...

1. Bianco is never going to leave on bad terms. He's made our program. Yes, some frat boys, who think they know baseball because they played for some shite high school and hit .150 their senior year, are going to chirp every year about Bianco because we haven't made it to Omaha and he likes to play smallball, but no AD would keep his job if a coach like Bianco went out on bad terms. If you have watched OM baseball throughout the Bianco era, you would have no thought of firing him.

2. McDonnell is a great coach and contributed a lot to our early Bianco era success, but he is gone...and we are still winning. That says it all. Not to take away from McDonnell, but there is a reason Bianco stayed our coach.

We're winning right now because of Godwin. What did we do in the years between McDonnell and Godwin?

You didn't "keep winning". You went through a lull between McDonnell and his recruits to Godwin, who is widely considered one of the best assistants in college baseball.

You'd be hard pressed to find a current player that doesn't attribute the return of your success to Godwin -- who, consequently, has a contract for one year longer than Bianco currently has.
