The reason people believe slaves built them is because of Exodus and it's notoriety in western culture. I know of no other source with implies slaves built the ancient wonders of Egypt.

Eh I've read/listened to several reputable historical sources talking about slaves and Egypt. I think they definitely had slaves, some of them were possibly Jewish, although most were not. Also most of the people who built the pyramids were not slaves, rather volunteers who were either paid or given tax exemptions for 3-5 years of work.
Though to be fair, they were treated as basically indentured servants while they were working, and many of them died/were injured in the process. They may not have relied on "slaves", but the pyramids were getting built one way or another

This.

Egyptian Antiquities authorities like to put out the happy feel good line that the workers were skilled artisans working voluntarily, but the reality is that slavery - in some form or another - was pervasive abd normal in tge ancient wotkd and Pharaoh got what Pharaoh wanted.
