I'm starting to get a better picture and why the costs are what they are (I don't agree with them but that's a different story). I didn't do the foster care to adoption thing, just a straight adoption through the Dept. of Children Services (every state has one but maybe called something else). IF you're looking for a newborn, there are none or very few going through DCS, that's why they have adoption "agencies" to broker a deal in the baby trade. These "agencies" are nothing more than baby stores getting rich off of the states and people looking to adopt. I completely understand why people want to adopt newborns vs older kids or even using a surrogate but adopting an older kid is pretty cool too. Good luck to everyone trying to adopt!!
