'04 is a stickler for me. I'd trade it for '10 in a heartbeat. Those guys deserved to play for it all. Why I hate OU as much as I do.

My only complaint about what he said is the media should have stepped up. AU admin didn't back it and the media shouldn't name a Champion.
AU was a great team that yr and got screwed. Damn shame.

I think one of the things that help to eliminate Auburn that year was Turberville's uncanny ability to blow a lead. Even watching the VT game pissed me off at the time.

I can understand Tubbs being miffed, but hard to be national champs when you don't play in the national championship game.
It was a shitty system, if OU had been left out undefeated they'd have a right to be upset too.
3 worthy teams, 2 spots. Somebody is getting shafted.
Had it happened during or after the SEC run Auburn would have gotten in over OU easily, however back then USC and OU were kind of the "it" teams.

All this claiming of past NC's is just silly. Whats the point? Makes us no better than the freakin gumps.

Got to hand it to Tubs. He knows that if AU claims that title - which they might - that he gets the bonus in his contract for winning a title. I doubt he actually cares if AU claims it for the sake of saying they have one more title. He cares because it means he gets another large check.
