Where are the other fanbases on the Rant getting their idea of the Coker hype?

They're dead set on acting like we're praising him to be a stud. Are they reading it elsewhere? I'm pretty sure most of us here just agree he has solid potential, and expect him to be pretty damn average this year.

Yet they continue to act like we're hyping him through the roof.

I don't expect him to be pretty damn average fwiw. I expect the kid to be a solid quarterback. He's got the same tools as Mettenberger plus some athleticism.

But to answer your question, everyone hates a winner. Anything we say on the main board will be twisted into "bama arrogance"

They hate us cuz they ain't us.

It's a good question.

There are reasons to be optimistic and reasons to be pessimistic. As fans, we tend to talk more about the former than the latter. Opposing fans will tend to focus on the latter.

I think most of us are cautiously optimistic though I am less so now than I was a few months ago. It doesn't matter how strong his arm is, if he struggles with accuracy I think our O will look a lot like '08

I think when Coker committed UA fans seemed overly excited because we all feared the void that was left after AJ graduated. No one was very excited about our options going into the spring and most believed that Coker is better than all the options currently on the team. I think that alone made some rival fans think we believed we had a 5 star future Heisman winner coming in for the 14 season because we believe Coker is good enough to push for starter. Truth be told our other options have not demonstrated any hope other than mop-up duty so any serviceable QB coming in that is better than what we have currently on the roster is exciting.

I personally haven't seen where he is better than Bateman, I would much rather have Bateman for the next 3/4 years than Coker for the next 2 if Coker is not miles ahead of Bateman, if they are dead even in practice I'm for going with Bateman. I think that would also help in recruiting, a kid from the other side of the country (Utah) can come to Bama and lead this team, you don't have to be a local kid or just a kid from the south...you can be from Cali, Arizona, Utah, Nevada if you're good enough you can come lead one of the best college football teams in the country. Not that Bama is hurting in recruiting but hey it could only get better.

From my perspective, y'all have been hyping him here, though my sense is that it's more hope than certainty. Since I don't hate you, my conclusion was simply that Coker is a stud who almost beat out Jameis and losing a 3 year starter with two NCs to his name makes your hope completely understandable.

You have to remember not to take the hate personally. Nobody hates us for the same reason almsot everybody hates you -- level of success. It's a compliment.
