I agree. i guess my previous post made it sound like I accept being a "2nd tier" program. I just kind of accept the process if that makes sense. Things are changing and it takes time. My original point was that IF we are going to lose guys in state this year that these two would have as little an impact as possible given how Mizzou recruits these two positions nationally.

Yea, I hear you. I have thought about this plenty my friend, believe me, plenty. I think it come down to a culture that was planted in the early 70's by the administration that de-emphasized athletics on the whole. I mean, think about that, its two whole generations that gave zero fricks about Mizzou athletics outside of basketball. Thats an incredibly difficult hole to climb from. Im 40 reedus so I can remember the height of the bleak years and maybe its just that perspective of seeing the climb back, and believe me there is a substantial climb back. It also may speak to my loyalty to Pinkel. We are still in a precarious position, we do not have the prestige to make a bad hire after Gary and expect to rebound 2-3 years later. Im nervous, its been rough going as a Mizzou fan. I want things to change for the better as much as the next guy.

Naw, I just didn't want it to come off like I thought the world was coming to an end because we didn't land Hentges. Obviously not the case. Rather, was explaining that that is what is needed IMO to reach the next hurdle and it's not so much because of any one player because there will always be other kids but because of that would mean that the perception of the program has reached a new height.

45 here and I think those years are what shape my feelings on it as well. DO NOT WANT to see the program fall back into those years, even if it's through complacency. Things have certainly changed for the better though havent they since the 80's? I mean here I am talking about wanting Mizzou to be perceived as a top tier program from in state kids when there was a day when it was the place you went when no one else offered you.
