There is no reason why they wouldn't be successful once they recruited southern athletes. They have money, prestige, and a huge fanbase. The only difference between the SEC and the rest of the nation and the only reason we are so dominate is our recruiting. Give a premier blue blood program, like ND, access to the same players as UA, LSU, etc. they would be great to elite every year.

Those great southern athletes who once upon a time were attracted to ND, are now staying home to play for UGA, USCe, FSU, LSU, UF, Bama, Texas etc... I read where ND is trying to schedule a home and home with UGA to try to make some inroads into southern recruiting. LSU and ND used to play each other all the time mainly because there are so many Catholics in Louisiana and for recruiting purposes. I'd rather a top Louisiana recruit stay home and play for LSU rather than go north and play for ND.
