I'm looking to purchase season tickets next season and I'm wondering how much I need to donate to the University to secure my two seats/get good seats/etc.
TIA

If you have to ask.....

I pay $400 donation fee per ticket. Good seats, 20th row. Hope that helps.

depends on the seat location

It depends on where the seats are. Some donations are as little as $25 per seat, but it goes up to I think around $1600 per seat for the club levels.

At A&M it seems to be a googolplex dollars.

Thanks
Dad suggested $400 per seat. I'm not looking for 50-yardline seats, but I don't want to sit on the goalline

We have rich alumni who can afford them.
I am not one of those people.

Eta: donation is for one seat. As is the case for all, ticket price is obviously on top of the donation.

Georgia it goes by lifetime donations and then you have to keep donating yearly. Probably takes a big chunk of change to get good seats.
Personally id just buy interesting games on the secondary market.

Yeah, we have a priority points system too. Once you stop gifting/go off the list, you have to start over again.
It's why I'll never get rid of my season tickets.

Thanks for the link. I particularly like that all the seats I'd want are "Sold Out", which at least partially explains why they're so damn expensive. I'll have my 50-yd line seats on the couch, once again. Except for away games at MSU and USCE. Will definitely be there. But it would be nice to go back to Aggieland once before I croak.

At LSU (and I'm assuming most other SEC schools) there is a wait list for season tickets, and therefore there is a donation ranking that you have to move up before you're ever high enough to get the opportunity at tix.
(in other words, at LSU, to get pretty much-guaranteed new season tickets for 2014, you would have had to have given $10,000 by the end of April. At that point, it would have vaulted you up high enough in the TAF rankings to then have the opportunity at getting seats this summer when they open up the wait list distribution of tickets. If one had given anything less than $10k by the end of April, even one cent less, you would not be able to get tickets for 2014 because your ranking would be too low for tickets to still be around when your number comes up to select seats.
Once you get tickets, then all you have to pay every year is the price of tickets ($425) plus applicable tradition fund (ranges from $200-$1000+ depending on seat location)

Always wondered how the donation system worked. Can you then turn around and claim the donation as a tax write off?

Most certainly. For non-ticket related donations, 100% deductible. For any donation related to tickets (Tradition Fund in LSU's case), it is only 80% deductible.
In LSU's case, every penny you donate before you have tickets while you are climbing the rankings is fully deductible. It's only the required donation associated with the tickets that is only 80%

There is a tax code provision allowing for an 80% write off I believe
At OSU, it's something insane:
