I have read an interview where Julio Jones talks about his mom working at Kentucky Fried Chicken. It is probably not racist to think someone of that financial background probably could not afford very much
Don't forget Trent Richardson. In an interview with SI, he said his family was so poor that they ate peanut butter sandwiches for supper most nights.
He gets to Tuscaloosa and is suddenly able to drive around in a new Escalade. Combine this with his momma driving around, and being ticketed, in various rental cars.
It's hard to say that no improprieties occurred.

Alabama is a major cheater is like saying that CeeLo is fat. Every body can see that. My problem is that LSU is not cheating enough. Car screw that give them a condo on bourbon street, two hot hookers, a bass boat, a few pounds of coke, and a car for everyone they know Man I miss the 80's sometimes. Oil prices are high we can win a lot more bidding wars than we are right now.

I'm pretty sure LeBron James's his mom used his future earning potential as collateral when he got his car in high school I don't see why Trent Richardson's mom can't do the same

Nope. Banks don't lend on "potential"....and who leases a used car/SUV?

BS. When you're that poor you get Food Stamps and eat better than the general population. Now, his mom might have been trading her EBT for crack, but that's on her.

Just a thought for what is mostly a ridiculous thread. I've heard it excused that they could get cars with low interest or low leases, etc. Isn't it still a violation if they are given a benefit that an ordinary student couldn't/wouldn't receive? (Is that still a rule?). Just curious.

Lol it's called improper benefits. You're not supposed to accept any benefits/breaks for being an athlete.
I don't give a shite, you haven't seen me in these threads getting my panties in a wad. But people on these boards can be like a tipped over barrel on a boat deck. Rolling back and forth on their outlook on improper benefits depending on if it's their school or not.
ETA: I admit I have no idea if Henry could have gotten it legit. But anyone with healthy perspective knows that you should laugh about this rather than pick up some mantle you don't carry for other schools when it looks fishy. IMHO people need to loosen up (both sides).

I don't know about that, but I'm pretty sure "all" means "every"...aren't you?

Why couldn't the player's parents lease a Charger for their son for 3 years at around $200 a month? If the dealership wants to give the low interest rate and have the Alabama football player advertise their dealership for them, then what does that have to do with Alabama, per se?
Say you do just that then you tack on insurance (required by law) and you're paying $350 bucks a month total (young men in sports cars are expensive). Not too many families outside of the upper middle class can afford to spend that much a month and not too many college football players come from upper middle class families (although a few do). However, college football has always been a game dominated by hicks, hayseeds, and those from poorer areas within cities as well as in rural areas.

Lots of posters forget or are just plain ignorant of the fact that poor players...and yeah, that would include poor black players...all can get almost $5,000 a year in Pell grants. In 2011, 423 football players from 8 different SEC teams received $4,600 each.
$4,600 per player.
$4,600 per player.
