I don't care for ESPN's playing up of the situation, but people's reaction, specifically on the internet where anonymity reigns supreme, is getting old.

This kid is going to work work work and hope he becomes a star.

I know. SEC fans are really exposing their bigotry.

I don't mean this thread on our board. But there is no reason for 8 more here, either.

I'm not hating on him but it is getting old hearing about it every 5 seconds on every channel you turn it on. It's the same thing that happened with Tebow. When someone gets that much coverage, it gets annoying and you'll have people who will cheer against that person.

Eh...it is what it is. I don't like watching fat girls kissing anything. If ESPN showed excessive fat girl kissing, I'd be somewhat disgusted too.

People on both sides getting way too worked up over this. ESPN over did it. Everyone move on. Sam is a person and a player, not a sexuality.

frick all that. If Michael Sam had played for any other SEC team I'd be talking shite too. It's the rant.

I'm glad he's from Mizzou, and I support the cause (although not the way it was sold the the media/public) and I'm happy he's a tiger.

That being said, I'd probably be making plenty of gay jokes if the dude came out of USC, Georgia, or any other SEC school.

It is what it is, him being gay doesn't change me and my tolerance.

As tolerant as many of us are, the bait hanging there to be taken from the fact that the first gay dude drafted would have come from any other school is too tasty to not be bitten. It is what it is.

I don't hate gays.

Just Fins.

No really, frick the Finnish.

If I had to watch some Finnish frick kiss another damn Finlander on TV, I'd throw a brick through my television screen and boycott whatever channel it was for life.

Somebody tries to serve me fried Baltic herring? I take it and throw it on the GROUND.

I'm not a part of the Finnish system!

MAAAAAAAAAN.

2 things:

-It's been 3 days since the draft ended. As with all things, this will blow over shortly. It's only a big deal now because people haven't moved on to the next thing to get outraged over yet.

-I liken this situation a lot to Tim Tebow. I don't think anyone actually hates tim tebow, but the media attention he got for 5-6 years was insufferable. He was constantly forced down our throats at every turn that people got fed up with it. Now, I realize this is a little different because MS's lifestyle is disagreeable to some, but my point is with the exposure it's getting. I guarantee you if this was the 90s where the internet was barely a thing most people wouldn't care. But this story is on every media outlet 24/7 to the point that people are just like "omggggg ok we get it already, stfu"

A few weeks from now when the media has stopped talking about it, I doubt people on message boards are still going to be bringing it up on the reg.
