Before we proceed, is it possible for someone to dissent from these popular views without "having a problem" or being a homophobe? I think generally most of y'all are pretty damn smart. But if someone disagrees with you is it open season in your mind?

Why do you dissent? And you can't use religion as your excuse.

Well, when has it ever not been "open season" on a message board? Over any opinion, conservative or liberal?

If you're not wanting to deal with dissenting opinions from your opinion then this is probably not the place to share it.

Yes, but it's infrequent that someone who opposes homosexuality is able to separate their religious conviction from personal interaction. Many say they "hate the sin but love the sinner" but this is because they simply are able to largely avoid homosexual interaction on a day to day basis. When push comes to shove, most inevitably treat homosexuals differently.

I suppose it is. I haven't heard a good reason to not support (or simply not care about) gay marriage, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

Absolutely.

I don't really "like" gay marriage but there are so many worse things in this country going on that forcing a bunch of non Christians to act according to my convictions seems really counterintuitive.
