I run about 25 miles a week and have done several half marathons. I usually run on the treadmill in the summer and winter and outdoors when its tolerable in the Houston hear. I try to knock out 4-5 miles a day, five days a week at around a 7 minute pace on a good day.
Personally, I love the New Balance Minimus shoes for running. Your legs are sore as hell for the first few runs but after that they are awesome.
Dont feel bad about your pace, theres actually a lot of evidence that the optimal distance/speed for runs is 3-5 miles at a time at an 8-10 minute pace. The benefits start dropping off after that. I run faster just because Ive been doing it long enough that I dont get the runners high anymore with a slower pace
