But a defense that,in its last 4 games was gashed for 28 by UGA in the fourth quarter, gave up a ton of real estate to Alabama and Missouri, and could not hold a lead with a minute to go vs FSU, IMO is not a strong point and MUST improve a hell of a lot. Without their best pash rusher and cover corner.

All good points.

I'd like to forget these and say that the AU defense will be leaps and bound better because it said so in my Lindy's(*) and because the hype train Bama had needs to scram for a season or two.

I'm kinda sick of everyone assuming Bama will be good because of the name on the uniform. I'd love to let someone else deal with that.

That's the problem with the HUNH, hurts your Defense. AU's Defense sucked last year. There was no excuse for Bama NOT putting that game away. Heck, Bama had about 100 more than Oklahoma, but turned the ball over 5 times. It's hard to keep motivated to be #1 every single year. It was obvious the necessary attitude needed last year was not there.

At Alabama it boils down to on offense QB of course.
There is a lot of experience back at the skill positions and a lot of returning OLinemen that logged time.

On defense replacing CJ Mosley, which will have to be by committee I think, and an improved secondary are musts. I was at ADay and I liked what I saw on the back end, particularly at the safety spots. I also saw some good coverage on some very good receivers by corners one on one.

Alabama's defense got torched by every ranked spread team they faced last year.

No, they're too young.

Meh...we have recruited well enough to fix those issues.

I have to admit Bama's defense looked uncomfortable and out of order when it played good spread offenses.

Saban has to step up on that this year or his reputation will falter.

No one will argue that the defense needs to improve, but the pieces are there. I think Lawson can be better than Ford next year. We've got better quality all around on D than we've had in the past 5-6 years. We had guys playing out of position by necessity last year. That won't be the case this year, and we won't have to rely on true freshmen as backups. I think year two in Johnson's defense will show a lot of improvement.

The thing about the FSU game is we held them to well below their avg in every major offensive category. We blew it on the kick return and that last drive. The only two times we didn't make a stop when we absolutely had to were that game and the uga game.

But those yards don't count towards the 100 yard difference in O that you brought up. The poorly defended pass play accounts for 99 of those yards.

of course, only bama beats themselves, everyone else plays at 100% all the time, with no mistakes, except bama

Marshall to Coates at the end of regulation Mr AU Tigers, most certainly counted. And was most certainly poorly defended.

As for NYC and his crappy point,I have repeatedly said Auburn won that game, Alabama did not lose it. And I have said it repeatedly and here I am saying it once again.

Thats nice and all except for your hypocritical points. You discount Auburn plays because of bama mistakes, yet fail to do so the other way around

Actually, it's points to winning three of the previous four National Titles. Winning 4 of 5 is darned near impossible. Players just can't be motivated the same way. That won't be a problem for Bama this year. Another 2009 type season for Bama in 2014.

No. Auburn will start off strong as expected then fold like a wet paper towel when they get to the meat of their schedule

I wouldn't expect Auburn fans to know about how hard it is to 3-peat.
