Kenny Chesney is from the same place that produced Roy Acuff, Chet Atkins, and Carl Smith (to name only a few) despite being incredibly small in population. I know you're proud of ETSU but it didn't have much to do with producing Kenny.
That said, Johnson City does indeed have a great music scene that goes pretty far back.

I remember when Kenny would sit around and play at the Lambda Chi house. He is from Knoxville, but as I recall, he didn't really start taking music seriously until he got to ETSU.
