Johnson City has a great music scene. East Tennessee State has churned out a number of top bluegrass musicians and Kenny Chesney out of its Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music program Check out rising alt country group The Twang Bangers' on iTunes and Spotify (Midnight Train, Back Home (Tennessee), 12 Steps, Cowboy Angel) -- They played Tuscaloosa a few weeks back. Looks like Stone Brewery may be arriving soon.

Of course, I am biased, went to State. Nearby Watauga Lake and Roan Mountain in Carter County for my money are two of prettiest places I've seen in Southeast

Johnson City is east of the Cumberland Gap damn it!

Ive been wondering this for years. It kills me. Maps people. Look at a map for one second and your song would be geographically correct.

Kenny Chesney is from the same place that produced Roy Acuff, Chet Atkins, and Carl Smith (to name only a few) despite being incredibly small in population. I know you're proud of ETSU but it didn't have much to do with producing Kenny.

That said, Johnson City does indeed have a great music scene that goes pretty far back.
