Can you request a name change? How does that even work?

Go to Help Board, be polite about it and use good solid reasons. Mine was changed due to honoring Jeff Boss, who helped me get my job (somewhat explained in the SCRooster thread).

Again to butt into a thread uninvited (apologies) to ask a question.

I used to lurk on CockyTalk a long time ago, I opened the site and it has definitely changed. Is that because most of their poster migrated over here or just the inmates started running the prison?

Most of their posters didn't migrate here, only a few of us are on here in the first place. IF you look at clicks/views/posts/etc... that board dwarfs this board with traffic.

Cockytalk was always a decent size free board. Its membership really exploded though in the mid 2000's when The State went from being a free board to a subscription board, that's when I and many other posters on The State's board left The State's board and went to cockytalk. It was great for years. It might still be, I don't know, I don't frequent that board much anymore (I mainly go there now to PM CNB and ATL to let them know that I've been banned here.)

I like this board b/c I get to talk shite to more fans from other schools.

They had a mod over there, Spurticus, leave when the fairweather fans started becoming relentless about how much they hated the coaching staff.
