Georgia has had some terrible luck whereas some other SEC teams to win titles during the Richt years have had some great luck. Nothing you can do about that

Exactly. You don't think Paterno, Osborne, and Bowden had the talent before 17 years to win a championship? Sometimes it does just come down to luck. Paterno went undefeated 3 times before winning a championship and then finally won his first with a 1-loss team. Bowden was faced with the unbelievable rise of Miami and came close several times beforehand. I guess you could say the same for Osborne.

I think almost every team that has won a national title has had a little luck. Off the top of my head:
02 - PI on Miami in endzone
05 - Carroll keeping Bush on sideline against Texas + breaks against both OSU teams.
06 - Ted Ginn gets injured on the 1st play of the game
07 - LSU had 2 losses including that bad loss at home to Arkansas.
09 - Mccoy gets injured on 1st series of game
10 - Dyer's run where he wasn't actually down (plus cam falls into Auburn's lap)
11 - Bama gets a second chance against LSU
12 - Notre Dame lucked into NC game, essentially assuring Bama the championship + tipped ball that was caught against UGA
13 - No charges against Jameis.

Hopefully we'll get some luck to get to the title game, and then a little more luck once we get there. At the same time, we haven't taken complete advantage of our talent every year either.

It wouldn't have had to come down to luck if they'd placed greater emphasis on the defensive side of the ball the past few seasons. A healthy Georgia has had a championship caliber offense the past 2 years, but they've lacked a championship caliber defense or strong special teams.
