Oh he's going to drag this out for many years no doubt. That's why Silver's words are wind. Those owners don't want to start down that path. Every person has skeletons and now the league has cornered Sterling and he has no recourse but to go nuclear.

plus he is old and rich so given his current situation, what better way to go out than in a blaze of infamy. at least that is what I would do.

They aren't going to force him to sell unless they are barely functional retards. Considering these guys are worth absurd sums of money, I highly doubt they are that stupid. The legal circus isn't worth it when media pressure and sponsors bailing will likely do the job for them. If they go through with that, I'll be shocked at their decision making. Google Gabe Friedman to learn more about the legal workings of this situation.

The fine and suspension are going to stick and he doesn't have a leg to stand on to fight those or at least a rotten wooden one to stand on.
