All signs point to Marshall,
Such as?
Which signs point to Marshall the coach of the university that seems to have no fear over losing him who coaches the players who are not concerned that he's leaving in a town where the media has no inclination that he is even considering taking off?

I think a few things are likely.
It's a current coach.
The salary is bigger than normal.
It's a current coach because we still know nothing even after the BOC has met. (Assuming they approved. The meeting wasn't too long, so it looks like a rubber stamp meeting. Haith's contract with the BOC took two hours.)
To be sure, Alden wanted approval of the big number from the BOC before finalizing everything with the candidate. Now the candidate can control the news on his end.
There are other Scenarios that would fit, but that makes sense.
