Drawing/quartering was a punishment reserved for high treason and religious heretics were burned at the stake.

Meh, that wasn't necessary. Ignorance of the various methods of execution hardly proves someone is "not a smart man." Execution by burning actually goes back to antiquity, and females found guilty of treason were not HD&Q... They were burned at the stake.

FTR, I disagree with WNC about this case. The homeowner executed those people and should do time.
