I specifically said I dont particularly feel sorry for them. That being said, what he did goes beyond any home defense laws in any state. He openly admits to intending to kill them and them going through with that plan even after they were no longer a threat.

This.

And I'm as big of a pro gun-rights/home defense guy as you'll run across, but there's a point where after the threat has obviously been neutralized, you alert the authorities and let things run their course from there.

Even the most nobly justified home defenders usually feel some remorse at being pressed into taking a life or seriously injuring someone. This guy's quotes sound like he extracted enjoyment from it, which is a major red flag, IMO.

Hell, even if the theives got what they deserved, a simple "I did what I had to do," would have sufficed. His quotes went way beyond that into some dark territory, unless I'm seriously missing some context here.

Yeah, it almost seems like he wants to go to prison with some of those comments. His lawyer did an awful job at advising him what to say...probably a good thing though. This guy doesn't need to be out in the public.

Exactly.

I feel no sympathy for the 2 intruders, you break into someone's house, that's a risk you take. But letting the bodies sit in your basement for an entire day before alerting the authorities is fricked up.
