My brother's brother-in-law does this. He literally waited outside a hospital here in Bham and accosted the people in suits he saw. Finally, he found someone letting him work with them for free. He eventually parlayed that into his own company that reps a small line of surgical products. The guy works hard, but isn't the brightest bulb if you know what I mean.

You got mail.

You are correct in that normal pharma is not a way to go. In medical sales, if pharma is on your resume it is very often not a front runner. Straight up pharma (viagra etc) is more of a marketing position. You never close a deal.

To NYC's point, I am in the cancer treatment side of things and it is not only a very solid business, it is very rewarding.

I started out in IT solution sales.

Also I do want to shoot down the premise that you have to be an athlete or a hot female. There are many of both in my company but they would rather have a competent (smart) sales person than just looks or name recognition. Granted if you are competent AND one of those other two things then you are automatic.

I am not an ex athlete or a hot female.

Me too.

I tried getting into the medical sales deal, just didn't know enough folks I guess.

That's awesome Aubie Spr96. Even if he isn't the brightest bulb, he still did what he needed to do for his career. Our country could use a few more hard working and motivated people like that instead of everyone wanting everything handed to them in life.
