The biggest thing for the future of Louisiana's economy is Natural Gas. The largest foreign manufacturing investment in US history (SASOL) is about to start construction in Westlake, LA. This facility will do many things but its main purpose is to convert natural gas to diesel. With the current LNG facility and future expansions along with numerous natural gas related projects, SWLA will likely be the capital of Natural Gas processing and exportation in North America. Natural Gas is the future of Fossil Fuels and energy and Louisiana will be the center piece of this future. Everyone seems to focus on New Orleans and Baton Rouge, but a large economic shift is and will occur towards the west to Lafayette and Lake Charles.
