Tulsa has won a post season tournament, how many has Mizzou won, since you want to bring up relevance.

Frank Haith introduced as Tulsa head coach:

Dave Matter ? @Dave_Matter
Haith: The fans were really, really good to me at Missouri.

"I want to thank Mizzou. Mike Alden was great for me. It was the toughest thing to leave these young men"

Haith: said he reached out to Mike Alden last night and didn't connect

Haith: my family loved Columbia...I loved the fan base. But it took a job like Tulsa to leave

Tulsa will always be in my prayers

So Tulsa's a better job than Mizzou? Ouch.

Am I missing something? Is he somehow connected to Tulsa? Or is this one of the worst lines of "coach speak"?

Tulsa was dumb enough to give him a 25K raise for 7 years while Mizzzou was smart enough to realize he was never going to win here. It has always been about the money for Haith. When Haith knew he was in trouble at Miami he approached Mike Alden about the Mizzou coaching job after Anderson left. Alden didn't approach him, but was really stupid for hiring him. Fast forward and three years later when Haith knew if he didn't win this season his arse was going to get canned so he took the Tulsa job. If you can't see the track record well then I can't help you.

It is hard to make sense of the move unless the reason Haith left relates to a loss of support from the MU boosters. If you assume a truly cynical point of view college basketball recruiting is funded by boosters giving money they aren't supposed to give. If that dries up the coach will fail in the relatively short term (e.g. Chizik). If that's what happened Haith jumping ship to Tulsa makes some sense. Damned if I can make sense of it otherwise.

Tulsa is probably a better job than Arkansas right now as well.

Give him a raise for making an NIT game? Seriously! Lets not forget Haith was already one of the top 25 paid coaches in the country before taking the job, and Alden was dumb enough for giving him a contract. It's illogical to even consider giving him a 4 year contract extension, and another 100,000 guaranteed especially with all the off-court issues.

Haith never had the support of MU boosters at Mizozu even when he was first hired. Haith was never going to get the support either no matter what he did because Alden didn't allow them a voice in the hiring decision.

Wes Clark and Shane Rector getting arrested for possession, Tony Criswell getting sued for refusing to pay his lease (owed $3,000), Zach Price attacking his former teammate Earnest Ross causing Ross to file a restraining order, (Price ramming Ross's car), Jones skipping classes, low attendance all season long, ....Keep in mind this is all in the last month or so these incidents have occurred, and certainly don't justify a raise for a coach

Not even Tulsa fans believe this. I'm guessing Haith took a minimum of a $700k pay cut.

Tulsa isn't a bad place to live.

Plus no state income tax, or it use to be that way.

No just the opposite, Tulsa gave Haith a 7 year deal at $1.85 million per season

Tulsa gave him a raise and a 7-year contract? He had to go.

And it will cost the Tulsa AD his job. Not even trolling.

Mizzou basketball APR is 979 so classroom issues weren't really a problem. (2nd overall in all competing sports)

And a $25k raise with 7 years is a $12M raise over what he was gonna make at Mizzou.

Frank isn't dumb. We know that for sure. He's a bad basketball coach. But who else has parlayed being a horrible coach into probably $20M?

Eta: math is hard.
