This is eminently reasonable, of course, experts on tRant to contrary notwithstanding.

There's a few names in the pile that would cost $2M+. Most wouldn't. You don't hire an "unproven" (very young or mid-major) coach at $2M+. You do let them know their salary will go up with success and they will be paid very well in the meantime.

When you let a coach go who took you the sweet 16, you have have to pay premium. It's not like CM had been underachieving for 10 years. To get a quality coach to work for that ath department, which has been terrible over the last 10 years, they will pay.
