I don't understand this. They were super underrated last year too until they straight up shredded USCe and LSU.

...and now they're forgotten again.

It's ridiculous. They're all immensely talented, they all have stats, they all have circus catches. I think randomway nailed it with
quote:

Probably because Murray was an incredible quarterback. He tended to overshadow the receivers by getting most of the credit.

this. When Murray was turning the ball over like crazy it was all on him and not the mediocre OL or lack of a running game. Suddenly when he excels it isn't anything to do with a stud receiving corp and great backfield.

We saw 4 years of Murray and we saw 2013 Murray w/ the starting WR corp and w/out them. The receiving corp makes all the difference. The QB is the catalyst. He's gotta find the guys and get them there but there is a reason UGA the past 2 years was one of the best in the nation in big plays.

Perfect example is UF in 2012. One could look at the statline and see Murray threw a TD to get Georgia up 17-9. But if one watches the game they see Murray was shell shocked the entire night and Malcom Mitchell made an incredible play.

Idk, I am just ranting now but the Georgia receiving corp is disrespected on this board perpetually. We may not have a star like DGB ) formerly, Treadwell, or Cooper (even though I'd argue Mitchell and Conley aren't far off their level) but what Georgia does have is a group of receivers that could start all over the SEC. Some of which aren't even starters at Georgia. You don't have to hone in on a star because all of them have potential for that circus grab and a lot of them have the potential to break 3 tackles and make UF's safeties collide into each other on the way in to the endzone for a 45 yd touchdown.

But who is going to be A&M's QB? He may be a good one, I just know absolutely nothing about him. Football was the main reason for A&M's success on O. He could get out of trouble that very few could.

Yeah I just can't see offense being a problem, though Manziel will obviously be missed. The big question is on defense. It doesn't matter how many yards you put up if you can't stop anybody from scoring. I think the D will actually be respectable. We'll see.

I have so much feel for you right now. I got choked up about your receivers.

We just need Mason to be serviceable, our backs are going to wreck shite this year.

Gurley, Marshall, Michel and Chubb... That's a seriously ridiculous backfield. Better than Bama's IMO.

Preach it. Everyone should know the truth of Mitchell, Conley, Bennett, JSW, and friends.

Henry's a stud and Yeldon is a beast. shite, so is Drake and Fowler. Still, I agree with you. Because in addition to the gentlemen you mentioned we also have the great white thunder

I sure as hell have never been more impressed with a receiving corp. The depth now is even better than last year. So fap worthy.

As do we!

If Sims ends up being the QB, then you can expect to see Corey McCarron lined up at H-back, maybe FB, for some zone read.

I don't get this thought of "Auburn will get figured out".

Gus has run his offense in the SEC going on 5 seasons now with tape of his offenses at other D-I schools dating back to 2006.

I really don't see how his offense is any different from anyone else's in terms of needing to be "figured out".

With even decently talented players, his offenses have put up numbers and I don't see that stopping anytime soon. I saw someone mention FSU providing a blueprint to stop it forgetting to mention that Auburn still up 450 yards/31 points...far beyond what FSU was allowing to anyone else that season.

The same goes for the modified Air Raid used by Sumlin. It's just going to put up numbers on a consistent basis. These guys aren't stupid.

As far as top offenses, in no order:

Auburn
Georgia
Texas A&M
Ole Miss

Everybody has a white fullback. We have a white tailback who trucks unsuspecting defenders in the most glorious way possible.

We "took down" LSU last season. I'm sure we will do it again.

Manziel caused most of the trouble he saw. He just made it look good when he did. Don't be surprised if the offense is top 5 nationally again. TAMU loses it's #1 WR, tackle, and QB but offensive depth may be best since sumlin got here. O line will be good, WR/RB depth should be great, and I have no issues with any of the three QB's on campus.

RS So Brendan Nosovitch was 3rd string last year and saw minimal action but was Pennsylvania's "Player of the Year" and was named to the Parade All-American team his senior year.
Connor Mitch is a RS Fr that is expected to battle with Nosovitch for 2nd string. Came out as a 4* with offers from Bama, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, UNC, and NC State, among others. He set many NC high school records and Spurrier said while recruiting him that he would stay at USC at least until Mitch graduated.

Thanks. That's all I was wondering. I just don't recall many RS Seniors getting the job.

Lets be real. A&M is going to have a top 3 SEC offense every year and probably the best as long as Sumlin is the HC.

depends on SEC defenses. everyone forgets that last year the SEC was minus something like 32 to 36 of the best defensive players who went pro early

Last year we would have been screwed if DT had gotten injured while playing for an already injured Shaw. This year the two redshirt guys have another year under their belts and will compete for backup duty so I'm not too worried. Again, the main reason Thompson has been a backup guy so far is because of who was in front of him.

The few claiming that are just saying it for spite. Auburn finished the season against 4 teams that included the then top 3 run defenses in the SEC and the top 2 scoring Defenses in the nation. Auburn scored 30+ points on all 4 and none came close to stopping them. If anything it suggest Gus figured them out.

Auburn
A&M
Missouri
Ole Miss
USCe
