Both are huge right now and both have created and are continuing to create some absolutely amazing products for consumers.
Which company do you prefer? Why?
Which company do you think has more long-term viability?
I'm somewhere in the middle. Trying to figure out with company to hitch my wagon to. Google is seemingly everywhere but I'm not sure they have a grasp on the aesthetics that make such a difference when comparing them to Apple products.

I guess I like them both pretty equally. I have an iPhone and Macbook, but use Gmail, Google Chrome, and many other Google products.
I do think Apple products are overpriced, but the price doesn't really impact their demand so maybe I'm wrong. My Macbook is a hand-me-down, though it was only a couple of months old when I got it. I haven't yet seen any justification for the $500 additional cost of it over my Dell laptop.

Depends on device.
I have an ipad and an iphone, both of which I like a lot. I also have a smaller Android based lenovo Yoga tablet I really like a lot as well.
I keep both IE and Chrome on my PC. Personal preference is Chrome, but wife likes IE better.

Google is better now and will continue to separate itself from Apple. I have a degree in Computer Science and as of two-three years ago had all Apple products(phone, ipad, 2 macbooks, and iMac). I now own zero Apple products. Apple has lost its touch and became complacent. Instead of bettering their products, they have just released the same product. It's only a matter of time until the non-tech lovers side of society figures this out.

All of my friends were talking about the new stuff their iphones do since the last update. Every single one of these things my android did... I say did because my android from 4 years ago did it.

Apple sucks. Their products are for the technologically retarded and people that think they look cool with that lit up Apple logo.
Google FTW.

Steve is dead. Apple has gone downhill.

I like both. I like the stability of Apple products. I like the customization of google products. I have no major complaints against either company.

I own android products.
About 2 years ago, I decided I was gonna buy a position in either Google or Apple, they were both hovering around $500/share. I rarely buy single stocks, and I almost never put more than $2K in anything all at once.
All the tech savvy people I knew were using android products, I liked where Google was going, I liked their financials and I bought 30 shares.
I'm extremely happy with that decision, especially with the recent split

It's a good example of how competition generates innovation and excellence. Take either out of the picture and what remains is domination and less incentive to be either excellent or creative. Statism/government domination is a good example of what you get without competition/profit motive.

Apple hasn't done anything notable since the iPad--that ended a very revolutionary and impressive streak from iPod, to iPhone, to iPad.
Jobs is gone, and with him the innovation died. Stick a fork in them.

Most of Apples technology was funded by the government.
They're not a shining triumph of capitalism, taxpayers made them what they are today.

Substance > Image and style
I tend to look at most performance for the money so most Apple products are not for me.
